Cue the eye rolls. And cringes. And exhausted sighs. And sweaty palms.
I get it. Pitching as a freelance writer is stressful. And, once you’ve gone through the hard work of coming up with a brilliant, well-researched story idea, the last thing you want to do is pull your hair out over the structure and formatting of your pitch email.
That’s where these templates come in. I know what it takes to pull together a successful pitch, and I’ve landed bylines in dream-worthy publications like The New York Times (cough, shameless name-drop, cough) and scored incredible, recurring clients like Trello and QuickBooks.
How’d I do it? Well, I pulled together a concise and impactful pitch email—and now I want to help you do the same.
Every single one of these templates is based on a real email I’ve sent in my own six-figure freelance writing business. That’s right—these templates are your chance to steal my exact pitch emails and tweak them for your own ideas.
There are templates for a variety of situations, from pitching an editor who previously rejected you to following up on your pitch. Basically, you can wave “goodbye” to staring at your blinking text cursor and wondering how the heck to write your pitch email.
Life’s a pitch, isn’t it? You’re itching to get a story published by a specific outlet or publication, but you know you need to pitch to make that happen.
How do you raise your rates? Or ask for a testimonial? Or break up with a problem client? There are plenty of head-scratching conversations you need to deal with as a freelancer, and this big book of email scripts eliminates all of the stress and guesswork. Simply scroll to the template you need, fill in the blanks, and communicate like a pro (no panicking required). Yes, it really is that easy.

Of course, I recognize that a template can only take you so far. So, each and every template also includes a filled-in sample to show you what your pitch email can look like when it's completed. The samples even feature real story ideas I've pitched (and published).
Ready to stop second-guessing and start pitching? I thought so. Snag these pitch templates and land more published work. Just think—if you get just one pitch accepted, the templates have already paid for themselves.

1. How will I receive my purchase?
Almost immediately after completing your order, you’ll receive an email from me (Kat Boogaard) confirming your purchase. Soon after, you'll receive another email from me with the subject line "Your downloads are ready." Within the email, click the link to download your products. Save them somewhere safe on your own computer so that you can access and use them as needed. Be aware that these are digital products, so no physical products will be mailed to you.
2. What formats do the templates come in?
You’ll receive a PDF booklet that includes the pitch templates and filled-in samples. The templates themselves are designed for you to copy and paste—meaning you can copy them directly out of the booklet. It couldn’t be easier.
3. Do you offer refunds?
Here’s the short answer: No. Because these are digital products, there’s no way for me to take templates back from you. All sales are final, but I’m confident you’ll love what you purchase.
4. Can I share these templates with my friends?
These templates are for your personal use only, and they can’t be shared with anyone else. While they're designed for use in your personal business and with your clients (which is why every template can be customized to your brand details!), these are just for YOU. Reselling, sharing with friends, or reproducing them in any way is not allowed.
If you want more details about what is and isn’t allowed, you can check out the full terms and conditions right here. Because we all love some good legal mumbo jumbo, don’t we?
